how this financial guru has shaped the way we do business

How did I become an Endorsed Local Provider by Dave Ramsey?
In 2002 my partner and I tried growing our CPA firm by testing radio advertising in the Grand Rapids area. We didn't get the results we had hoped for, but the radio station sent me a fax looking for sponsors for Dave Ramsey’s live event in Grand Rapids that year.

I began thinking…I had heard of Dave Ramsey and I understood he offered sound financial advice, which I thought matched the biblical principles that guide the advice I offer my customers.

What if I align my business with The Dave Ramsey Show?

We did sponsor Dave’s live event that year, and even had the opportunity to share breakfast with Dave the morning of the event. We also began airing radio ads during The Dave Ramsey Show. Response was notably better to these ads, and the radio station even arranged to have Dave record two of our ads.
Shortly after our ad campaign expired, Dave Ramsey introduced the Endorsed Local Provider program for Tax Preparers. Because of our involvement with their organization they contacted me to see if I would be willing to participate. Of course, I said ‘Yes’!

Although Dave doesn't try to tell us as CPAs how to do our jobs, he does look for CPAs who offer advice consistent with the principles he uses. I have found The Dave Ramsey Show to be a great fit for us, and I expect they could say the same about us.

why being an endorsed local provider (ELP) is so important

Being an ELP isn’t easy; it’s hard work because ELPs are held to a higher standard of excellence. We participate in regular interviews and checkpoints to keep our endorsement, which isn't bought — it’s earned.
